Dr Marissa Kiepert Truong earned her Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from Temple University. She is a credentialed parenting educator and early childhood professional who has been passionately working in the field of education for the past 15 years. Her professional experience has spanned consulting, educational research and data analysis, one-on-one assessment, standardized testing, program evaluation, and teaching inside the early childhood classroom. Before launching A First Foundation, Dr Kiepert Truong worked as a director of an early learning center and served as an adjunct professor at Rosemont College, Temple University, and St Joseph's University where she taught courses in the psychology and education departments. Dr Kiepert Truong currently teaches the family groups, afternoon enrichment, and summer camps at A First Foundation.
Her professional interests include helping parents foster early literacy development at home. Dr Kiepert Truong's tips have been featured on the award-winning MetroKids MomSpeak blog, Main Line Parent, Early Childhood Teacher blog, and Teachers' Lounge blog. In addition, she is a trained provider of the clinically-proven, research-based "Reading with TLC" program that uses multisensory methods for learning letters and sounds, and an independent consultant with Usborne Books. Dr Kiepert Truong is also committed to nurturing "whole child" development through authentic, hands-on learning experiences, and believes that play and parental involvement are essential components for healthy early childhood development.
Dr Kiepert Truong is active in several professional organizations including the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the Educational and Developmental divisions of the American Psychological Association (APA), the North Carolina Parenting Education Network (NCPEN), and the National Parenting Education Network (NPEN). She is certified in infant, child, and adult CPR by the American Heart Association, and is trained in food allergy prevention and management.
She enjoys reading and collecting children's books - especially those from her own childhood - and trips to the beach with her husband and two children. While working on her master's degree at Villanova University, Dr Kiepert Truong fell in love with the Main Line and has since proudly called this area "home".

Assistant Teacher, Footsteps to Literacy Camps
Maria is a retired early childhood teacher with over 35 years experience who assists in the summer early literacy camp for preschoolers. She holds a certification in elementary education, and began her career teaching in the public school system. Maria spent the majority of her work teaching preschoolers and was the owner of a school in her hometown of Johnstown. She taught there for 7 years before going to work as a home visitor with Head Start where she taught parents and children together. Maria ended her career in teaching as a classroom teacher with Head Start. She enjoys incorporating music into the classroom and has a song for everything! A First Foundation is excited to have her expertise and years of experience at our camps this summer!
